"Job and Life Skills Program"
New Choices is a grant based program funded by the North Carolina Council for Women and the Domestic Violence Commission.
The program is available for individuals (you do not have to be victims of domestic violence and sexual assault) who meet three specific criteria:
An individual (male or female) must have:
Individuals that qualify may be eligible to receive assistance with school tuition and help is offered with tutoring, GED testing, and employment assistance. One is also eligible to receive assistance with Gas/Transportation.
The program is available for individuals (you do not have to be victims of domestic violence and sexual assault) who meet three specific criteria:
An individual (male or female) must have:
- Worked unpaid at home for at least five years
- Is unable to secure gainful employment due to a lack of required training or experience, or are unemployed and....
- Has been dependent on the income of another and is no longer adequately supported by that income.
Individuals that qualify may be eligible to receive assistance with school tuition and help is offered with tutoring, GED testing, and employment assistance. One is also eligible to receive assistance with Gas/Transportation.

New Choices partners with various agencies to ensure the best services are obtained for our clients. Partners include: Employment Security Commission, Macon Program for Progress, and Southwestern Community College.
New Choices also provides seminars that are focused on Resume Writing, Financial Literacy, Interviewing Skills, Communication Skills and many other job and life related topics.
Our past seminars have ranged in a variety of topics including but not limited to Soap Making, Candle Making, Owning Your Own Business, Salve Making and many more non-traditional classes. We offer seminars all year round and welcome you to attend one or give us a call to find out more information.
New Choices is pleased to announce that we will soon have several New Choices Participants graduate from Southwestern Community College and we also have participants who have started and are currently operating their own businesses. During their time at Southwestern Community
College the New Choices program is able to assist them with tuition, books, and gas vouchers.
New Choices is held in Macon County on Tuesdays and in Jackson County on Fridays. If you are interested in attending please look at the schedule for more information.
